He plays a clueless dad in 'Tully.'

Ron livingston talks to topix about 'tully,' what kind of dad he is, and the fallout from that post-it note. Ron Livingston is an affable actor who has been kicking around in films since the early '90s, but most of you probably first remember him as Rob, the New York transplant trying to make it as an actor in Los Angeles in Swingers. He is probably best known for playing Peter Gibbons -- the guy fed up with his work life -- in Office Space. He also had memorable parts as Captain Lewis Nixon in Band of Brothers and Roy Phillips on Boardwalk Empire.

In the dark comedy-drama Tully, Livingston plays the gently neglectful husband of Charlize Theron's Marlo character -- a 40-year-old woman who just gave birth to her third child and seems spent by motherhood until she is rescued by an idealistic, bright-eyed babysitter. The movie, which is directed by Jason Reitman and written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody, premiered in U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.

We caught up with Livingston as he was doing the press rounds for Tully and asked him about falling in love with a costar, what kind of father he is, if his characters ever get under his skin, and if breaking up with someone via a Post-It note on a TV show affected his real life. Start Slideshow
