What does the cast of 'roseanne' look like now? Roseanne originally aired from October 18, 1988 to May 20, 1997 for nine seasons. At the center of the hit sitcom is Roseanne Barr as Roseanne Conner, a working-class "domestic goddess" from Illinois with a sharp tongue and unique way of managing her household. John Goodman plays John Conner, the husband of Roseanne's character. Laurie Metcalf -- a recent Oscar nominee -- plays Roseanne's neurotic younger sister, Jackie. The role of Roseanne's eldest daughter was alternately played by Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke. Sara Gilbert plays Roseanne's artsy, tomboy daughter Darlene Conner.
