If you never try, you'll never know. Can we all agree that hipsters ruin everything? From fashion to cuisine to music, these calculated contrarians have a unique talent of finding ways to irritate and annoy the casual passerby. They thrive on it, but that doesn't mean we can't turn the tables and call them out on their lame music taste. Sometimes things are so bad that they're good, but you know what? Some things, like the following bands, are just plain bad. Period.
Is your favorite band guilty of pandering to hipsters? If you like Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Mumford & Sons, Aphex Twin, Lorde, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Coldplay or Crystal Castles, they're all guilty as charged. There's Vampire Weekend, which sounds like an edgy goth band but whose music is safe enough for an outdoor mall. The Scissor Sisters may actually be the Bee Gees in disguise -- has anyone checked to be sure? Then there is listless li'l Lana Del Rey, a manufactured entity with a fake name and phony persona who is like a walking Ambien pill. Don't forget about the French electronic "band" M83, which is actually just one person and a chirping synthesizer.
If none of the music artists who pander to hipsters on the following pages are your favorite bands, congratulations! You are not a hipster or living in a state of irony. For the rest of you, this is your jam!
